Encounter Overview The Blind One is fifth boss encountered within Dar Narbugud unless you attempt to take it down in 'Hard Mode' which is not covered by this guide. The encounter is regarded as the hardest within Dar Narbugud and requires that everyone within the group completely understands their role for the entire duration of the encounter which is usually between 5 and 10 minutes in duration. The Blind One has an acidic aura at all times causing 449 acid damage every 2 seconds to anyone within 15 metres of him.
The Blind One is immue to all common damage, this includes damaging fellowship manouvers and various class DoT effects (e.g. Barbed Arrow).
All of The Blind One's attacks inflict shadow damage. The portals around the edge of the room are instant kill on contact. At the end of the encounter the webbing on the ground will collapse allowing you to proceed to The Mistress of Pestillence. Equipment & Consumables All classes who will spend time inside the acidic aura should consider using at least 3 piece of the 'Watcher Set' for the acid mitigation bonus. The main tank should consider using 3 pieces of the +15 set for the shadow mitigation bonus. A Lore-Master in the main tank's group with a Raven positioned in a safe place can also help boost the tank's mitigation. During the encounter all members of the raid are likely to take damage therefor it is advisable to use scrolls of warding lore to reduce vulnerability. The last phase of the encounter unless handled perfectly can turn into a race against time (adds & corruptions) therefor it is recommended to use scrolls of battle lore to increase damage output thus shortening this phase and it's wipe potential. Phase 1 Information - 520k until 435k Approximately every 25 seconds The Blind One will knockback his current target and wipe all of their aggro. The Blind One will randomly inflict spreading Poison and Wound debuffs similar to those ecountered during the Zholuga fight while Zholuga is in his green phase.
Phase 2 Information - 435k until 205k Darklings will spawn on the centre platform and randomly from the 3 surrounding portals. The darklings will pick targets which they will travel to at high speed before spawning vortices trapping the target inside for 10s. If a player touches one of the vortices they will also be trapped for 10s. Tactical classes will now attact shadow roots which spawn every 30s and last for 10s. These roots are exactly the same as the roots encountered previously en route to The Blind One. They inflict a 4s root every 5s while also reduce incomming and outgoing healing. The debuffs (in addition to the root) are:
The Blind One will now start using an attack known as 'Whithering Strike' which is an interuptable induction based 360 degree AoE attack. Phase 3 Information - 205k until 0k Shadow roots continue to spawn under tactical classes. The Blind One continues to use 'Whithering Strike', but it's induction time is considerably reduced. The Blind One will gain a corruption approximately every 3 seconds with each corruption giving The Blind One +50% damage.
The Blind One will spawn a shadow of himself every 45 seconds from one of 4 sides of the room in the following order: South, North, East, West. Each Shadow has ~510k morale and using any type of crowd control effect on them while they are not immune will deal 50k damage. One Lore-Master can cope with these shadows alone, however two or an assistant Burglar/Warden will make the task easier. Other classes can help for example Hunters can root and fear where as Minstrels can fear. The shadows do not have the same acidic aura as The Blind One but their standard melee attacks are still potent. Rumours suggest that if you kill a shadow quickly then next will spawn in 30s rather than 45s.
